Wondercon 2014 Recap!

I just realized that I'm HORRIBLE at updating my blog, so I'll talk about my experience at Wondercon! LOL
So I went to Wondercon this year and celebrated my birthday there!! It was amazingly fun, and I'm totally glad that I decided to go there instead of Anime Conji. (Didn't hear too many good things about that con. WELP).
Before Wondercon, I was stressing out because I really wanted to wear Asahina there along with my other friends. For the life of me, I couldn't find any shorts locally (I was running out of time and money, so ordering online was not an option LOL). So in the end I ran to Joann and picked up materials for pretty cheap and sewn myself some shorts. XD
So in the end everything worked out and after borrowing her wig and jacket from my good friend Nommydesu (SHE IS AN /AMAZING/ ASAHINA. I DON'T COMPAREEEE), I went as Asahina on Friday and Sunday!
Saturday was a monster. I brought back my Hsien-Ko and cosplaying her again was just as amazing and as painful as I remembered. XD I was so excited to use light blue paint for her again (NO SCARY SMURF PICTURES) and I managed to look somewhat adorable (I TRIED TO AT LEAST LOL). But by the end of the day, my contacts were starting to bug me and my eyes kept tearing up, so my body paint was coming off around my eyes. I couldn't find my friends, and they had my contact case, solution, eyedrops, and paint. So I had no way to take my contacts out or touch up my paint. So I was screwed, that is, until the wonderful Sheila of Aicosu came along and let me have her contact case. (Turns out that I ended up losing both the case and the contacts on Sunday......figures. XD) But thank god that my contacts were out and my eyes felt better. But by this point, I was SO tired and so ready to be done with this cosplay. But I didn't find said friends until around 10 pm that night.....it was awful. XD But meanwhile, I attended a little hotel party gathering thing and ate hotdogs, pizza, and smoothies! I also won this super cool medal in their little cosplay contest thing (IT REVOLVES AND EVERYTHING. IT WAS SO COOL.) So by the end of the day, and despite all that happened, I enjoyed myself!
The entire weekend, I somehow kept ending up in Downtown Disney. It was a wonderful way to end my day! I found a new love for the hot sandwiches at Earl of Sandwich. I first celebrated on the actual date of my birthday there with a bunch of my friends! Then on Sunday, I wandered there to have lunch with the beautiful Jazmin from Oppai CosPhotography! We enjoyed Tortilla Jo's and afterwards, I fell in love with the beignets at the Jazz Kitchen! (SUGARY POWDERY GOODNESS) It was so good that when me, yirico, and our photographer friends wandered back to Downtown Disney, I had another batch at the Jazz Kitchen! We celebrated my birthday again, and I got even MORE beignets (I was already stuffed, so I gave them away to everyone else), then we got this cool show where the waiter made a caramelized topping for ice cream. He set it on FIRE and while it was totally cool (and delicious), me and yirico were a bit worried that the flame would set our wigs on fire. (Heat resistant wigs, not fire proof! XD) But it was such a wonderful way to end the day and to finish such an awesome weekend!
Overall, Wondercon was a great convention, and I enjoyed myself a lot! There's nothing better than celebrating your birthday at a con. Being surrounded by your cosplay and photographer friends is just an amazing experience! It was definitely the best birthday party EVER (well....I haven't had many birthday parties....so...). Either way, I am so grateful to have such wonderful friends. They made my birthday feel so special, and I'm glad that they actually wanted to celebrate with me. XDD And for the first time, I felt pretty confident in my cosplay! I'm starting to get used to actually having photoshoots and I'm so happy with how the photos are coming out. Jazmin from Oppai CosPhotography is an amazing friend and a super talented photographer, it was a pleasure shooting with her and she's cranking out such BEAUTIFUL photos! All of her photos are just stunning.
I think this con was just awesome. And I can't wait to attend next year's Wondercon!
I'm already excited for Anime Expo. I'll be working hard on my cosplay for it! I'll try to post WIP pictures on my facebook page. So keep an eye out! ;3

Anime Los Angeles 2014 Recap

So Anime Los Angeles went SO well! I really enjoyed myself this year! My cosplay was not too tedious to wear, so it allowed me to roam around and mingle. (A luxury that I missed at Anime Expo 2013 due to wearing my Hsien-Ko cosplay 3 days in a row). I was able to enjoy the con and that really boosted my spirits for my cosplay this year! I cosplayed the entire weekend with my special someone ArtificialCannibal 
and I got to hang out with some of my close cosplay friends such as KikiKabuki and PaperTwilight. I really miss them now, but I know I'll be able to see them soon! 
I'm already excited for this year's Anime Expo and I'm already planning out my cosplay for this year. I'll be making announcements on my Facebook page soon, along with posting my Wondercon 2014 line up! What a great way to start a new year! Can't wait to show you guys my future cosplay! ;3
